Travelogue
Artworks based on a research trip to Japan, collaboration with Aoi Yoshizawa and Anna-Mari Leppisaari, 2014.
Travelogue is a visual narration of a journey. It unravels a research process as a mental landscape, which starts from imagining patterns, is followed by encounters that interlock shared experiences and ends up in reflections of weaving practices together. Travelogue consists of geometric woven seashell obi textiles, hand woven obi textiles and a pattern installation. Travelogue was supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation and realised in collaboration with a Kyoto-based textile studio, Tamiya Raden. The artworks were exhibited in Third Space Gallery in 2014 and in The National Museum of Finland as a part of their Japonism exhibition in 2019.
